When Amebix returned with «Sonic Mass» in 2011, few would have predicted the musical shift that accompanied the record. With Amebix‘s demise and subsequent announcement that the “Baron” Rob Miller had joined forces with Voivod‘s Away to form a new band, perhaps fewer even guessed that not only was the first record going to be that damn good, but even more so, that Tau Cross would amount to anything more than a one time thing.
Well, two years later, here’s «Pillar Of Fire», the band’s second album, streaming below via Relapse Records.
For the new record, the band has recruited Frustration‘s Tom Radio to join in on bass duties. Moreover, the band collaborated with photographer Cavan Blight, who did a piece for every song on the record. These pieces can be seen in the video above. The still used for this piece, for instance, is from «Deep State».
«Pillar Of Fire» was released by Relapse Records on July 21.
