One of our favourite Finnish punk acts, the unrelenting Kohti Tuhoa, are about to release a new album, entitled «Väkivaltaa», one which shows “the band experimenting with different sounds on each side of the record.” The press release goes to to expand that side A “draws inspiration from early Spiderleg Records EP and Killing Joke, with raw, catchy guitar parts and vocals nicely layered on top of a heavy, driving beat.” On the other hand, side B is set to bring proceedings to more familiar grounds, with three “tracks of catchy yet relentless hardcore punk where intense screaming, pogo beats and broken-sounding guitars create a backdrop for a great mix of Finnish hardcore, Disorder and modern bands like Colombia’s Muro.” It is precisely one of the latter songs, the title-track «Väkivaltaa», that you can hear below. Finally, “the lyrics illustrate a violent world plunging into chaos at an alarming rate, which seems to be the case in all parts of the planet in 2021.”
«Väkivaltaa» is set for release on October 1 via La Vida Es Un Mus on digital and vinyl formats. The EP was recorded and mixed by the band and mastered by Jack Control at the Enormous Door Mastering.
