Seven years after the release of «Contragenesis», putrid death metallers Ignivomous are back and have a renewed formation, enhanced with Lewis Fischer (Altars) on second guitars and Inverloch‘s Chris Jordan on bass, freeing Jael Edwards to focus exclusively on vocals. Their upcoming third full-length is entitled «Hieroglossia» and, according to its press release, “avoids sacrificing the primacy of the riff for reverb-drenched formlessness or songwriting in favor of dissonance for its own sake.” Thematically, it is said to focus on philosophical pessimism and is influenced by the writings of Thomas Ligotti and Emil Cioran. To attain a glimpse of the sort of horrors the now quintet will soon unleash, listen to «Thalassophobia» below. The stream is accompanied by the album’s artwork, courtesy of Stefan Thanneur, bassist of the now defunct Chaos Echœs. You can further listen to the album’s opening title track over at Metal Bite, here.
«Hieroglossia» is set for release on November 15 through Nuclear War Now! on cassette, cd, digital, and vinyl formats.
