This upcoming Friday, Finnish black punk quintet Qwälen will release its first full-length, «Unohdan sinut». The press release of the album asks “what is left when you lose something dear to you? The world appears as a dark dystopian wasteland, with no one left to offer anything even close to comfort. Self-pity, misanthropy, Satan and abandonment offer new alternatives. Where can one turn his or her gaze to eventually forget and rebuild?” To answer that question, a simple statement “now I can burn my temple. Destroy everything I created. Draw the plans into its ashes and start anew.” How this attitude translates to the music can begin to be ascertained below through the unyielding fury of the album’s title track, «Unohdan sinut».
Mouth-watering, isn’t it? And with a killer artwork to boot. Thankfully, one does not have to wait until Friday for more music from the quintet, as they have also released a stunning video for the record’s second track, «Polku»
«Unohdan sinut» is set for release on February 19 through Time To Kill on digital and vinyl formats, whose pre-orders can be made here.
