Coming as a surprise to no one that has been paying attention, the onslaught of filthy old school death metal releases has continued at great pace in 2021. This time around, we’ve got the debut of a new Australian collective by the name of Feculent, whose line-up features quite a few established names in the Australian underground scene, namely, and we’re going by initials and common projects found here, Brendan Auld of Snorlax fame on drums, Matthew Budge from Siberian Hell Sounds on vocals, Kaleb Doherty from Idle Ruin on guitars, and Jim Dandy from Descent on bass. Their first EP, titled «The Grotesque Arena» comes billed as “a blended infection of rotten amygdalic death doom and perverted blasts of vacuumus void,” will be out later this month, and its second track, «Host Consumed», can be heard below.
«The Grotesque Arena» is set for release on March 19 through Brilliant Emperor and Caligari Records on cassette, digital, and vinyl formats. Pre-orders can be found here (cassette), here (digital), and here (vinyl).
