Deathsomnia to release «You Will Never Find Peace»

It’s a ripe time for dystopian visions come to life through art. One such case comes by way of Deathsomnia, a recently created trio based both in the UK and in Estonia. Theirs is a sound anchored in dark wave and “dystopian punk soundscapes enveloped in raw emotion, industrial climactic momentum and live energy.” The trio comprised of Kadri Sammel (Bedless Bones), Richard Powley (Telepathy), and Bruno Russo began their career earlier in the year with the release of the «Self Sabotage» EP, which included the eponymous track, as well as a cover of Swans‘ classic «Celebrity Lifestyle». It was released on April 9 by Isolation on digital and vinyl formats which can be found here.

A few days later, they released a remix of the EP’s title-track done by Selofan. Both versions of the song will be part of their upcoming full-length debut, «You Will Never Find Peace».

As the press release of the album explains, “the creative synergy between Deathsomnia’s multi-instrumentalist members and their individual punk, hardcore and electronica backgrounds, are the source for «You Will Never Find Peace»’s unique dystopian and industrial sound and genre-bending originality. Their groovy riffs and crashing percussions draw influences from Wipers, Dead Moon, Health and Godflesh,” while “the beguiling vocal melodies are dressed with Depeche Mode and Primal Scream undertones.” Below, listen to the album’s first single outside of the two iterations of «Self Sabotage», «Katabasis», featuring Kyle Kymball of Nothing fame, who stated, regarding the song, “when I heard «Katabasis» I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Deadly serious but danceable with straight to the point lyrics. Deathsomnia made me a fan immediately. Here’s to descending…

Besides the aforementioned Selofan remix and Kyle Kymball participation, the album also features a guest appearance by Gabriel Franco (Unto Others). Moreover, the drums were played by Uniform‘s Mike Sharp and the cover seen above was created by the legendary Dwid Hellion (Integrity). Mastering duties befell Arthur Rizk whereas production was handled by Ben Greenberg (Uniform). Below, you can listen to the most recent single of «You Will Never Find Peace», titled «Akinesia», filmed and edited by the band’s vocalist Kadri Sammel, who explained that “the origin points of «Akinesia» are night terrors and sleep paralysis, where reality becomes a distortion, and the body is contained and powerless. In a state of fear and disorder, a primordial dichotomous perception guides the way, birthing demons. The visuals in the video are inspired by psychedelic horror films and vintage macabre art and memorabilia.

«You Will Never Find Peace» is set for release on September 3 via Isolation Rec. on cd, digital, and vinyl formats. Pre-orders can be found here (digital) and here (cd and vinyl).
