Six years after their last release, «Passage», Tacoma based Alda will be back later this year with a new album, «A Distant Fire». The album is described as demonstrating “a keen sense for engaging songwriting and a use of melody that is sure to enthral listeners familiar with their work as well as individuals who are new to their sound. Thematically, the album tells a story about facing a dire and uncertain future, of nights illuminated by distant blazes and days obscured by ash and smoke.” Written between 2017 and 2019, «A Distant Fire» was recorded by Jake Superchi and mastered by Mell Dettmer. Below, you can listen to its first single, «Stonebreaker», one of the record’s shortest songs. In closing, the press release notes that the album “represents a noticeable growth and transformation in Alda’s songwriting and musical performance, while staying true to the spirit and intentions that have informed their music during their fourteen years as a band.”
«A Distant Fire» is set for release on October 8 via Eisenwald on cassette, cd, digital, and vinyl formats. Pre-orders for the digital edition can be found here. The cassette and cd formats will be available for pre-order sometime before the album release, whereas “vinyl is in the works but delayed by the plant for a couple months.”
