Irish black metal duo Sermon Of Flames will soon release its debut LP «I Have Seen the Light, and It Was Repulsive», through I, Voidhanger. The band was created in 2019 and by March that year had already released a two-song demo entitled «Heralds Of The Untruth». That bleak and tortuous affair serves as the basis for their approach these days, “taking those elements that were crucial to the demo as well as its underground ethos, the duo expanded upon them within a professional studio, finally forging a truly representative and unique work of uncompromising extreme metal, a monolith of filth and violence erected in homage to ever burning hatreds.” The album is further described as being “as creative as it’s chaotic and dissonant. Malicious and brutal death metal riffs cloaked in black intersect with devastating rhythms, while cavernous choirs of growls and screams sing oppressive psalms of horror and despair.” Sounds good, doesn’t it? Below, while gazing at the beautiful artwork created by tattoo artist Richard Carson, take a first glimpse into «I Have Seen the Light, and It Was Repulsive» through «Chords Wrung from the Ribs of the Earth».
«I Have Seen the Light, and It Was Repulsive» is set for release on September 3 by I, Voidhanger on cd, digital, and vinyl formats. Pre-orders can be found here (cd), here (digital), and here (vinyl).
