The Californian duo of Karl Cordtz (Chrch and Occlith) and Patrick Hills (Occlith and ex-King Woman) has created a new entity, Feral Season, which “initially began as a way for Cordtz to explore a personal connection between black metal and the landscapes of Northern California.” Their debut LP, entitled «Rotting Body In The Range Of Light» was written by Cordz last summer with Hills adding the drum parts later. The result has its backbone firmly in the “early to mid Scandinavian black metal,” though the “songs often wander into more hallucinatory soundscapes.” Thematically, it stands as “a portrayal of the loss of one’s mind and a subsequent flight into the depths of the inner self.” The album’s opener, «Tied To The Sun» can already be heard.
«Rotting Body In The Range of Light» is set for release on October 22 through Profound Lore on cd and digital formats, whose pre-orders can be found here.
