Formed in 2017 by members of Basque blackened crust outfit Ancient Emblem and Berlin based doom quartet Aptera, Arde took about a year to unleash their first self-titled full-length. Now, the quintet is gearing up to the release of «Ancestral Cult», which comes described as “sonically enticing and utterly organic, the vigorous production showcases its dynamism through the miasma of cascading riffs bursting with the urgency and virulence of an avalanche, intimately partnering with a throbbing pulse of rhythmic fierceness.” The album is comprised of four black metal compositions centred around «Sile», a “bucolic, beautifully ethereal” composition by guest performer Amelia Baker of Cinder Well.Below, listen to the album’s opener, «The Birth Portal».
«Ancestral Cult» is set for release on October 28 via Wolves of Hades, Alerta Antifascista, and Darkwoods on cassette, cd, digital, and vinyl formats. Pre-orders can be found here (cassette, digital, and vinyl), here (digital only), and here (cd and digital).
