Being formed by Tomb Mold‘s Derrick Vella and Innumerable Forms‘s Justin DeTore, one could expect Dream Unending to be a death metal project. Alas, things move slower here, as their debut album «Tide Turns Eternal» comes “imbued with the dark atmosphere and wilting romanticism of the legendary ‘Peaceville Three’ (Anathema in particular).” Their doom further drinks at the well of “ascendent Floydian guitar textures and sparkling The Cure-esque strumming,” and is thus not restrained strictly into the metal realm. Below, you can listen to the album’s first two singles, «In Cipher I Weep» and «The Needful».
«Tide Turns Eternal» is set for release on November 19 via 20 Buck Spin on cassette, cd, digital, and vinyl formats. Pre-orders can be found here. The album was recorded by Sean Pearson at Boxcar Studios and Arthur Rizk at Solomon’s Temple, with the latter also mixing it alongside John Powers and handling mastering duties. The artwork was created by Matthew Jaffe, with the band’s logo by Jesse Jacobi and layout by Chimère Noire.
