Ufomammut release single from upcoming record «8»

Psychedelic doom power trio Ufomammut have unveiled the opening track of their upcoming eight full-length record, «8». Entitled «Babel», the song is described by the band as the song that brings them from their “previous record, «Ecate», through to the new album,” adding that the song is inspired by the Babel myth as “the tower of Babel represents the perfection that goes against God. And that’s why the title of our new album resounds in 100 different ways.” Below, the video for «Babel», courtesy of Malleus Rock Art Lab.

The allusion to the myriad of ways in which the title is to resound is further elaborated on Neurot‘s page, where it is stated that it “must be stressed there is no singular pronunciation of the title, 8 is to be spoken in every language e.g. “eight” in Engish, “otto” in Italian, “acht” in German, “huit” in french and so on. 8 is a continuous flux of music, a singular entity, which can be defined in micro measurements by its 8 satellite songs. Each track expands upon the preceding song, unfolding into an exceedingly dense and malevolent journey, resulting in this being Ufomammut’s most extreme venture yet, with no room for breathing space in the 48 minutes.” Further recall that the record’s second song, «Warsheep», which you can stream below, was released by Supernatural Cat as a 7” one-sided single back in June.

After «Warsheep», the band revealed «Zodiac», which you can listen to below, at the end of June.

«8» is set for release on September 22 via Neurot Recordings. For the occasion, the band is organising a special event in Milan. It starts with an exhibition of the work developed by the Malleus Art Collective, to which all Ufomammut members also belong, regarding the band. Before embarking on the full rendition of «8», there will also be a special “Mystery set” in which they will “unearth alien handcrafts from the very past. A special surprise will only be announced hours before the event.” Given the suggestive phrasing, one is forced to conclude that, at the very least, former keyboard player Alien will be back for the portion of the set containing songs from «Godlike Snake».
