Filii Nigrantium Infernalium return with two full-lenghts

Portuguese necro rock ‘n’ roll legends Filii Nigrantium Infernalium have recently joined forces with Osmose Productions. As if to emphasise this unholy union with the French label, they have released not one, but two new records (well, sort of, we’ll get there in a second), both of which can be streamed below. Starting with that which is fully new, there’s «Hóstia», a record the label describes as “sardonic, acid, Heavy Black Metal” from a time in which “Metal was Black and Black was Metal, savage and iconoclastic.”

The “sort of” above was added because the second record is «Fellatrix», which is a fully re-recorded version of «Fellatrix Discordia Pantokrator» by the current formation. That is, drums were played by Arrno Maalm and lead guitar by the newly joined Iron Fist from Midnight Priest fame. While at first glance, a re-recording of an old classic (and one as beloved as the original «Fellatrix») might not be the most appealing thing in the world, it’s worth noting that there are many changes. There are new lyrical bits spread throughout, song titles have changed, intros and similar passages have been fully removed, and the guitar solos are considerably different. It all comes together with the recording done by Fernando Matias, which such that «Fellatrix»’s sound now feels as dirty as it should, as you can check by yourself below.

Released today, May 25, by Osmose Productions, «Hostia» and «Fellatrix» are both available here, the former in cassette, cd, and vinyl, the latter only in cd and vinyl. Further note that the French label is also re-issuing the band’s previous full-length, «Pornokrates: Deo Gratias», originally released in 2013. Digital versions of all these recordings and more can be found on Filii’s bandcamp.
