Line-up update: SWR Barroselas Metalfest

Between the 26 and 28 of April 2019, the twenty second edition of the SWR Barroselas Metalfest will take place in the village of Barroselas, Portugal. This week, they made their second announcement regarding the line-up of the upcoming edition, having added some mighty impressive names, spanning an unsurprisingly diverse amount of genres within the universe of extreme metal. Arguably headlining the newly announced names are doom giants Saint Vitus.

Of course, it’s hard to argue about the importance of Swedish black metallers Craft, who released «White Noise And Black Metal» this year and, perhaps most importantly, have only started playing live in 2014.

Then there’s the veteran trio of French black/death Satanists Arkhon Infaustus, and Scandinavian death metallers Demilich and Vomitory, with the death metal contingent has been further increased through the Spanish brutal death quartet Wormed and Canadian blackened death trio Auroch.

On the black metal front, German outfit Ascension joins legendary Portuguese duo Morte Incandescente in the confirmations, both of whom released new material this year, the former with «Under Ether» and the latter with the beautifully lo-fi demo «Somos o fogo do teu Inferno.

Finally, there’s Serrabulho representing grindcore, Skull Fist in the heavy metal department, Dopelord on the stoner/doom front, and a trio of Brazilian acts headlined by experimental punk Deafkids, whose debut EP from Neurot Recordings last year, «Configuração do Lamento», has certainly increased their international profile. Their also confirmed countryman are thrash quartet Woslom and the São Paulo based punk/post-punk outfit Rakta.

These fifteen bands join a contingent of previously confirmed ones that was already impressive in an of itself, containing the likes of the mighty Godflesh, veteran death metal act Benediction, blackened speed metal filth-mongers Midnight, experimental death metallers Imperial Triumphant, and the idiosyncratically heavy Eagle Twin, whose newest album, «The Thundering Heard (Songs of Hoof and Horn)», is easily among the year’s best.

As has become a tradition of the festival, they are currently selling their special “X-Mas Pack”, containing a three-day ticket for next year’s edition and a couple of offers. These are available at this location alongside all the additional information on the promotion.
